Beautiful stay, could not be a more perfect spot to snorkel right off the beach. Great for nature lovers — a quiet, restful spot; two restaurants within walking distance, very nice responsive staff help you get set up with transport and tours. Would come back again!

Casa Playa Maya is like paradise and it’s the best location and house we have ever stayed in! Beautiful and calm beach right outside the house with excellent snorkeling. You can also easily paddle the kayaks provided out to the reef to snorkel. Stunning view and sunrise from the master bedroom, as well as from the balconies and terrasses (we used the barbeque on the terrace almost every day). Everything is very clean and well taken care of, and the layout of the house is great. Glynis is very nice and helpful and answered quickly on all the questions we had. Luis and the team that takes care of the house and the beach are amazing. We will go back!

We loved our time in Soliman Bay at Casa Playa Maya! The beach is absolutely beautiful. Views from the house and master and unbeatable. Glynis was extremely helpful. Luis the caretaker is the best! Would absolutely return! When booking, I didn't realize there were casitas behind the main house who shared the pool and beach. I was a little nervous but it was great! The other guests were so nice and lots of space for everyone.

My family and I spent a glorious six nights at this fabulous villa on the beach. When I say it's on the beach I mean you open your front door walk 15 paces and you're standing in the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. You might ask yourself if it's worth it... well if you're goal is to enjoy the sun, sand and water, not be bothered by other people, and have a place to retreat to right there, then this is the place for you! I can't stress enough how magical it was to be in this secluded bay and not struggle to find a place on the beach and have to bring everything with you. First of all everything you need, from snorkel masks, to kayaks, to paddle boards and fins are provided, you just have to bring yourself and let the warm seas do the rest. We had some plumbing issues while we were there, it was unfortunate, but the responsiveness of Glynis and her on site manager were amazing. Heck, Glynis stopped on her way to the airport to see if we were ok. We would happily return!

We had a wonderful time at Casa Playa Maya, everything was fantastic. The beach is in a well preserved bay, quiet and safe, far enough from Tulum beach noise at close enough to enjoy the night life if we wanted to. The house is beautiful, modern and very well equiped. It is right on the beach. Luis was there to help us with every aspect of the logistics, and precious recommendations to make the most of our stay. Thank you Glynis for accomodating with all our requests!

This place is fantastic. It is in a gated community with about 38 homes on the beach, so it is a quiet beach away from the tourists. The home is very comfortable with 3 large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, and a large living room and dinning room. The view from the master is beautiful since the home sits right on the beach. A reef protects the beach, so there were no boats. It is excellent for swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding, or kayaking. All the gear is available at the house for these activities. There is one hotel on this bay 5 minutes from the home, with a great restaurant and bar. Remember that to get to the Tulum Beach hotel area, you need to drive 30-40 minutes. Glynis recommended a great chef to cook at the house. Will definitely love to come back here.

Positives: really amazing location on best beach near Tulum; almost private beach with kid-friendly sea; villa was very spacious with everything you need (except a washing machine - although the price of laundry was very reasonable - and TV, which we didn’t miss); house manager Louis was wonderful; house was bright with great views; Aircon worked well; unlimited drinking water; free and available kayaks and SUPs; lots of outdoor terraces; good kitchen facilities. Less positive: fixtures and fittings are more rustic chic than high end (some showing significant wear); no comfortable sofas to lounge around on (seems to be a Mexican thing); when we were staying in the villa the other units were occupied by quite rowdy people ( just the last 3 days - Glynis said that was unusual). In general - even though we thought initially that it was expensive - great value for Tulum. And, from what we saw, the best location if you want peace and quiet.
Host Response
Thanks for the positive review Damien and the suggestions. We struggle with fixtures as they rust so quickly being on the ocean-front. Ceramic are an option, but largely unavailable in Mexico. We'll look to replace them more often or bring some good ones from Canada! Hope to see you guys again some day!

Stunning location. Couldn’t be more perfect as far as being right on the beach in a most beautiful private beach area. However the finishes in the villa were average, kitchen needed updating and there were no blackout shades if you are sensitive to light. The wall AC was loud and when on had a bright light that interfered with my sleep.

The house is really beautiful, great location and lovely open layout. We did have unfortunate timing with the arrival of the sargassum ( sea grass) right before our stay. This is not unique to Glynis’ place. The whole area ( Cancun and Tulum and more) was affected with large amounts of the seaweed covering the shoreline, emitting a sulfur odor. Once we got over the surprise, we had a lovely vacation. The beach is very walkable and there is a wonderful hotel at one end, with a really good open air oceanfront restaurant and cleared shoreline for access to swimming and snorkeling. Glynis was excellent to work with and very prompt with all replies. The staff are lovely, kind and accommodating. Thank you!

Great location in this laguna. on the left it goes more rocky and closer to the restaurant which is 5 min walk on the right laguna is getting less attractive. this villa is right in the middle with sup-boards, kayaks, so you can row toa number of small stones with corals, fish. we were able to see dozen of stingrays over few days. waves a crashing into reef ~200 meters away from the shore, so usually no waves at all inside the laguna.

Glynis & Michael’s beachfront villa in Soliman Bay is the perfect abode for those who want to have access to - but not be wholly enveloped by - Tulum and the wonderful surrounding areas. We stayed here for 7 nights between Christmas and New Year and had a fantastic time. The house is perfectly designed, with spacious bedrooms, a fantastic living area, a solid kitchen, two terraces, and, of course, right on the beach. You can literally wake up and walk right onto the bay. Couldn’t recommend this spot more - thank you Glynis & Michael.

Absolutely the best place we stayed in Tulum (after staying at 2 other hotels before coming to the beach). You are just a few feet from the waves smoothly crashing on the shore at the best beach in Tulum. The house is seemingly new and we loved the rooms on the second floor with plenty of view and private balconies. The biggest surprise was having full access to the Jashita Hotel just a short walk up the beach—their restaurant was excellent and fairly priced. I would recommend you rent a car because taxis are expensive in Tulum. Overall, we couldn’t be happier and can’t wait to stay there again!

We loved the house! Great architecture, modern and in great shape, right on the beach. Amazing location if not the best location in Soliman Bay and surroundings. Glynis was very nice and great communication with her. The place was very clean, and Luis, the property manager, was really kind and helpful with everything we needed. The kayaks and stand up paddles were a great treat, too. We will definitely come back soon.
