Had a great trip in the camper truck. Great vehicle and great host. Communicative and flexible.

Costa Rica Overlanding was very helpful throughout the duration of my stay and was flexible on the checkin time when my flight was delayed. Jacob recommended transportation and even helped set up transportation from the airport. It was great having a vehicle and place to sleep while exploring the beautiful waterfalls, beaches, and jungles of Costa Rica. With 4x4 the truck handled no problem on the sand, mud, and up the mountains. It was a reliable and fun way to check out Costa Rica. The inside of the camper was not the same model as the pictures due to a previous rental damage and a change of the camper but it was suffice with plenty of sleeping room, a kitchen, plenty of water, and a hot shower which was really cool turning on and showering with hot water after a long hike back from a waterfall. Jacob will show you how to use everything at checkin. Can’t wait to come back!

My husband and I have an overloading vehicle in the states so to find someone renting theirs in Costa Rica felt like home. Jacob is very quick to respond and communicates clearly both during booking process, questions before arrival and when inside rental period. We chose to have him deliver the camper truck to us on the coast in Playa Hermosa. Jacob set up a driver for us from SJO and suggested a family operated hotel which he'd bring the truck to. Our driver was so wonderful as was the hotel we stayed in our first night. Their lot to park truck was perfect and secure. We did leg work ahead of time and secured camping locations our first three nights on The Osa Peninsula. This helped a lot with fears of where we would stay and how easy or hard securing wild camping would be. Do your homework, research, read blogs, ask camping questions in groups and you will be set for the most epic adventure. Stop at a local supermercaco to stock up on essentials then have a blast.

What an incredible experience! I can’t say enough about overlanding in The Urchin! My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful time exploring Costa Rica in style. Jacob was very helpful throughout the process and so so kind (he even gave us a ride to town after our reservation ended)! A word to the wise, make sure to get the extra tire and windshield insurance at the very least! The saying “potholes to paradise” is incredibly accurate in Costa Rica and even if you don’t pop a tire you’ll be happy to have the peace of mind! Would recommend Costa Rica Overlanding services 1,000 times over again!

Jacob's camper felt like our home on our trip. The rig is very comfortable and practical. Jacob is extremely helpful and was always willing to help with any problems. The car needs a few adjustments to make driving on gravel a little more comfortable. The pleasant construction is very heavy and therefore not very suitable for difficult terrain. Over all i would choose the urchin over a 4x4 car with a roof tent anytime. We felt very comfortable! Thank you for everything.

What an amazing way to experience Costa Rica! We loved our time travelling in this van and Jacob is really helpful and responsive. The camper's got great facilities and it's really well thought out. We felt really cosy and secure. The bed is comfy, there's a hot (outdoor!) shower, camping table and chairs to sit out, and the little kitchen with gas stove and fridge make it easy to cook in. There are USB ports to charge phones etc and great stereo with various inputs. No doubt it's a big and heavy vehicle so you've got to take it slow if you're on unsurfaced roads, but then you've got more chance to spot wildlife! We crossed a river, drove the back route between Arenal and Monteverde (via El Castillo), and found an amazing spot to camp right next to Rio Celeste. We'd have loved to have another couple of weeks to see more but if we are lucky enough to come back to CR we'll definitely book again. 100% would recommend!
