2BR Home in Montezuma

Ramon

Excellent, 7 days ago

Definitely a very special place, surrounded by nature and with a lot of charm.

We liked the house very much. Very peaceful place. It had everything it said it would. We stayed for several days, and it was very comfortable. Everything worked. The kitchen was equipped with everything necessary for cooking there. All very neat and tidy. Separation of organic waste and recycling. It was like being at home. The internet is good enough for teleworking with video calls. Ms. Florencia's service is always excellent. Good location, 5 minutes or less to Montezuma and 15 minutes to Cóbano. No complaints, highly recommended. We would definitely come back.

My partner Jessenia and I had a great time. The place was beautiful, the cabin was very, very beautiful, and it was impeccably tidy—you couldn't ask for more. It has everything you need and is very comfortable not only for a couple, but also for more people who might want to go, as it is very spacious and comfortable. It is fully equipped, and it has a hot tub, which we loved. We were visited by birds of many kinds, and the contact with nature and the privacy are priceless. And best of all, Florencia, the owner or manager, is a wonderful person, always attentive, helpful, and has a great touch and heart for providing excellent service. A wonderful human being. Thank you so much, Florencia!A highly recommended place to stay in Montezuma. It's an oasis of tranquility.

Our itinerary changed and Flor kindly let us come earlier than planned. It was a little tricky finding the place, but she was there to guide us in. I thought we would love Toucan Hill House. The porch was great to hang out on, and I did enjoy looking at the birds and agouti who came by. But the inside is pretty dark and smaller than I expected. And then there were the mosquitos.... We are both mosquito magnets. At night, with no way to keep the mosquitos out, we tucked under the mosquito nets right after dinner. Because my partner is 6'2" and CR beds are short, we couldn't both fit on the larger bed and get the net to work, so he moved to the single bed so I could sleep. He got eaten by mosquitos because the netting just rested on him. It was a miserable night. So sadly, it was not a great fit for us. But it's a unique house, and Flor was very kind and responsive. Without the mosquitoes, we would have stayed longer to see if the toucans came by!

Host Response

Loretta, I'm sorry to hear that despite my efforts to accommodate your needs—changing your reservation dates twice, and thoroughly cleaning the entire house with vinegar, including sheets and towels, to address your allergies—you chose only to mention the mosquito issue in your review. Based on previous feedback, this seems to be a recurring concern for you. We are currently in the dry season here, so I would caution you against visiting during the rainy season if mosquitoes are a concern. That said, you did request mosquito nets, and they were provided on every bed. As for the photos, they were taken by me with my cell phone and are completely accurate representations of the property. There’s no trickery involved. Good luck!

The house is amazing, very large, with a super nice terrace, there is absolutely everything you need, especially for cooking. We even saw monkeys and squirrels in the surrounding trees, Flor is super welcoming, super responsive, very good advice on things to do in the area, and very accommodating we were able to arrive early in the morning at 11am, There is a nice slope to get to the house, but nothing insurmountable 😉 Thank you Flor!

We only discovered Toucan Hill House by accident. But the pictures and the description appealed to us immediately. We decided to book this place for 2 nights. Maria welcomed us warmly in person. She showed us around and explained everything. It really is a dream house that we can absolutely recommend to everyone. We were able to watch various birds, howler monkeys entertained us, a troop of at least 15 capuchin monkeys made their way around the house and we also met geckos and iguanas. Parking on the property is not a problem, but an all-wheel drive vehicle is absolutely an advantage, especially in the rainy season. The driveway is steep and quite narrow at the end. We would come back any time and if our path leads us back to Montezuma, then we will book there again!
