Pros: * Beautiful view from the property. * Clean, quiet, and well-maintained neighborhood. * Overall, the property was comfortable and enjoyable. Cons: * The listing did not clearly disclose that there would be additional charges for water and electricity, which was unexpected. This did not make any sense to me, I've stayed at multiple AirBnBs and never had to pay for water/electricity separately. * The property is not walkable to the city center as we anticipated. It is approximately 30 minutes away, so transportation is necessary for most activities and dining options (one restaurant on-site).
Host Response
HOUSE RULES/Additional rules states the following "The electricity consumption is not included in the rent. You pay for it at checkout." All of the messages sent by the guest were timely answered, they never mentioned anything about bathrooms and towels being dirty (if that would have been the case, we would have tended to it immediately). We received a complaint from reception that the guest was rude when he was asked to cancel electricity consumption and he left without paying. (We got him to settle the bill through Airbnb). I would not host him again.

Nice, clean, and safe. The only thing is that parking is a bit inconvenient, but everything else was great.

Highly recommend staying here if you’re in San Juan del Sur! The view is incredible and the pool is perfect. Having a restaurant on site is very handy. Taxi into town is $6 US one way FYI and the staff will kindly assist in booking for you! The layout of the home means it’s perfect for a large family OR two small families, because one bed & bath is upstairs and the other bed & bath is on the main floor. Being able to sit on the back porch at night and watch the sunset, the city lights, the stars …. highlight of our vacation. Don’t be scared off by the electricity cost - San Juan is always windy, and you get a fantastic cool breeze up on the hill most days. We only used the A/C twice, and for a family of four over ten days, our cost was a little less than $60 (Canadian). Two things to be aware of - the walk up and down to the pool/restaurant is a little strenuous if you’re out of shape (but doable!) And plan ahead for groceries/necessities if you don’t have a car! Enjoy!!

Stayed in Palermo for a full month, overall great stay. The beds were super comfy and everything in the house worked great. Amazing view!! Worth getting a car/bike as it is just out of town up the hill. Staff were incredibly friendly and the grounds were very well maintained! We were a bit worried about the electricity bill but with conservative use (turning all lights and A/C off during the day or when we’re not home) it only ended up being $160usd for the entire month which is quite reasonable.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this home in Villas de Palermo. Being on the top row, the jungle is right across the street and the views over the valley and bay are spectacular. The beds are comfy and the water pressure is good in the showers, with plenty of hot water. The a/c units are very efficient and cool off the interior quickly. The parking is convenient, right in front of the home. Palermo has a nice pool and restaurant area to hang out at, as well as a play area for the kids. The location is convenient to town and central to the various beaches. We would love to stay here again when we come back to San Juan Del Sur!

Elisa's home was very clean and a fine place for my group of five to stay for a very last minute reservation. I am very familiar with the the SJDS area and knew this place was a bit removed from the center of activity which was completely fine given we had a car. Some things to note: The renter pays for 100% of all water and electricity use. I have never, in my decade of living in Nicaragua had this scenario. Never have I been charged for water usage. And while many rentals in San Juan charge for electricity overuse, I've never seen anyone charge for everything. I would never stay here long term given this nuance and the fact that everything, including the range, was electric. It would make your price rise rapidly. Be sure you bring your own supply of drinking water as this is neither noted nor provided in the listing. (There were only four, small, bottles of water available at check-in for our party of five...). If you need a last minute, short stay this is an okay option.

Lisa's place has a nice scenic view to san juan. i would recomend to rent a car to get to the main town. The resort staff are kind and friendly, make you feel right at home. I'm a solo traveler and travel with my dog, I was there for a month. Cons: I found scorpions around the house and the ligh bill was $490 dollars for one person, I only used one ac unit for one room with no use of W/D or kitchen. I would recommend for short stays.
