We loved our week at Ruth’s. The house is even more impressive that the photos. We enjoyed more time than expected at the house because it was so peaceful and beautiful. We loved the pool, the design, the birds and monkeys! Can’t wait to come back again.
We had an amazing stay here. If your hesitating to book this place that's your loss. Howler and capuchin monkeys visited us multiple times as well as parrots. The pool was the perfect refreshing cool off during the hot days (and nights). The gym under the bridge is super cool, as well as the glass walls all around the home. Punta Islita is a quiet gem with virtually no tourists around, and the locals are very kind and helpful. What more can we say about Doris that hasn't been said in other posts? She was so helpful and kind and discreetly kept the place clean and fresh.
Wonderful place, clean and modern. Pool was great, fun to see all the monkeys. Note that nearby hotel (where guest access is mentioned) is under construction and unavailable.
Our 1 month stay w/ a 6 year & 6 month old exceeded our expectations. You can tell the house is beautiful from the photos, but it’s better in person. The pool was perfect for that too hot even for the beach part of the day. Things to know: - Beach walk ~12 mins. We thought it was a great beach -You can walk to multiple good restaurants and drive to some exceptional ones showcasing that blue zone diet -The pulpería (local small market) is a 2 min walk. We found it has plenty of groceries. The owner takes custom orders. No need to stress not being close enough to Samara. Also bigger markets in Estrada (20 min) - Breakfast bar birdwatching 👌 - Monkeys! - 4x4 is best for the bumpy dirt road. Our friends did it in a junker sedan. You get used to it. - The hotel is temporarily closed thr. 2027, but the beach club is maintained The house feels remote and exclusive, with eveything you need nearby. For us it was perfect and we are grateful for the time.
We had a mixed experience. Highlights included the beautiful pool, outdoor dining area, and seeing macaws fly overhead morning and evening. The fresh fruit and eggs on arrival were a thoughtful touch. Ruth was responsive to our questions - great host! However, the layout and privacy were not as expected. The upstairs bedroom is only accessible from outside (as described). The issue was that the property is shared with another rental, so we didn’t feel comfortable leaving doors unlocked, which created a sense of separation between our kids (downstairs) and us. Indoor space is limited, with no comfortable place to gather. Privacy was also an issue—the upstairs bathroom has a clear window facing another property, and the bedroom lacks privacy unless shades are drawn. It didn’t feel as secluded as we anticipated. There was also noise from a nearby bar on two nights (out of four). Overall, enjoyable outdoor features, but layout & privacy concerns impacted our stay.
Beautiful home surrounded by amazing wildlife in a secluded location. House comes with an amazing house cleaner, pool cleaner and maintenance staff. Short walk to a beautiful beach. Perfect location if you are looking to escape the busy crowds. Loved the coffee shop in Islita. Thank you for a great vacation
This place was absolutely the most wonderful month we have spent in Costa Rica. This is our fifth year in Costa Rica and we have never stayed in the same place twice. The listing I feel should have an update on its photos, because it was better than the original listing photos. It was much better!!There have been many updates since Doris, and her daughter Viviana were the most wonderful ladies to see every day! Smiles……constant effort to pamper and please you was beyond amazing. the guys, especially Jefferson that helped with the pool and surroundings, were so helpful as well! The locals in the area were so friendly and kind, we loved our stay there. My only downfall at this point, would be the long drive into Ruth place. We love to walk, and love to walk to our surroundings with grocery stores, etc. The local areas have everything you may need., But if you want any of the extras, you would have to rent a car to get To the nearest town. Overall this was a great month!!
An amazing house with so beautiful surroundings! The beach is only a few minutes' walk and such an incredible beach! The beach is just for yourself if you go in the morning, warm water where you can swim or go bodyboarding. We absolutely loved it! As for the house itself, we loved the design, the beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms and the swimming-pool. We loved the sounds of nature, monkeys you can see in the trees, birds and parrots. Just one or two things that we didn't like too much: no air-conditioning in the main room (the living-room can get very hot during the afternoon), the swimming area with the pool is sourrounded by woods, that is really nice but also full of mosquitoes, so once you get out of the water you really need to get in the house if you don't want to get bitten. All in all, a wonderful stay. We highly recommend! And yes, do bring some food before coming, there is only a very tiny "pulperia" up the road.
Wonderful home with a terrific outdoor space in a small village. The quiet beach is an easy 7 minute walk away. The last 10km of the drive to Punta Islita can be challenging at times, but take it slow and you'll be fine. This is wonderfully remote with lovely restaurants nearby and great locals. The monkeys and macaws are pretty special too. If you want action and beach bars, this isn't the spot. If you want calm and nature, this is your place.
We have stayed in Ruth’s property for the past 3 years for 1 month the first two times and 2 weeks this trip. We absolutely love the homes. The staff is top notch and not to mention amazing human beings. Our children look foreword to seeing them. The location is surreal, it’s a very special area (Islita, Corozalito, San Miguel, Cameronel, and Carrillo). Thank you for hosting us again.
The house is beautiful, it feels private and safe, the finishes and layout are super nice. The pool surrounded by nature makes you feel away from everything, Punta Islita seems to me a jewel of Costa Rica and this house has a Perfect location, close to the beach. The service was excellent, always accommodating to requests. Recommended a thousand times.
We had a lovely time. The house is very comfortable, especially the upstairs bedroom which is very large and equipped with a walk-in and a beautiful bathroom. It is also very well located with nature all around and close to the charming little village of Islita (where there is a grocery store and café). Note, however, that there is no living room per se: only a kitchen with a kitchenette. On the other hand, the outdoor space around the pool is large and has a sheltered table with BBQ where we often ate our meals.
We love Costa Rica! This property is absolutely beautiful. Love how the outdoor is incorporated into the indoors. Doris is fabulous and Ruth is responsive and caring. We hope to return again!
We had so much fun here! The pool was a big hit with the kids, especially when scarlet macaws flew over! The house was very clean and the kitchen is well appointed. We found Punta Islita to be beautiful and quiet. We’d love to come back!
Ruth’s place was easy to find, and immaculate apron arrival. The pool was warm and clean and our favorite part of the stay. Doris the cleaning lady helped with our laundry and came in the clean the home multiple times throughout our stay. She was very friendly, and very helpful! I would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose.
