10/10 for sure! Andy was so helpful and provided first class service. The property was absolutely amazing, world class waves just step away and we saw so many monkeys and parrots. We have been living in Costa Rica on and off for about 20 years and this is by far our favorite placed we stayed. We will be back very soon. We highly recommend Andy’s place.

Abrazos hermana. I look forward to seeing all y’all again! Fun crew!
At Andy’s place the adventure comes to you. People pay to be taken out into the jungle for tours to see wildlife that showed up in our yard with no effort. The road to matopalo is rough - can’t be passed without 4wd. I wish we’d had higher suspension in ours but we managed. Stop at the bakery and the BM supermarket in PJ for food and stock up. There is no reason to return to PJ during your stay at Andy’s if you have enough food/drinks. Bring coconut oil for your legs to prevent sand fleas (this applies to all Costa Rica) deet also works but natural is better. I would call the experience *top notch glamping* you’re really outdoors and one with nature the whole time. Unbelievable surroundings with a bed and pillows, hot running water and a working range. Perfect for my family who’s used to campervan camping. Backwash bay was perfect for swimming. Andy’s place was perfect for watching surfers, sunrises and sunsets. Keep an eye out for bioluminescence after sunset!! & THE SWING AH!
Great place, bring some groceries and settle in for some off grid immersion in beautiful nature.
it‘s a lovely place, close to the beach and basically in the jungle, lots of wildlife like monkeys, aras, agutis etc… a proper experience… the house is simple but offers all you need… would go there again
Our Family of 5 really enjoyed it here. This is a a very special place and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for adventure, or just wanting to relax. We did both. The tree climb was a unique and memorable experience. Myself and our 12 & 14 old all made it to the top. The jump out was exhilarating. . Andy’s son was absolutely great. What an amazing life. Thank you Talon for the fresh caught fish! So thoughtful!……We’ll get that ping pong game in next time!. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you!
We had a great week at Andy's place. The entire space is open air, which means we woke up to the sounds of the birds and monkeys each morning. The solar system powers a full size fridge, lights and outlets throughout. Propane powers the gas range and water heaters in each of the showers. The bedrooms / bathroom space are awesome with private open air showers and beds under mosquito nets. The property itself is oceanfront with a beautiful beach, surf break and good fishing. We loved jumping in the pool to cool off and our boys couldn't get enough of the huge tree-swing in Andy's back yard. We had a mid-size 4x4 to get around and it was needed to make it the last 2km down the road to Andy's place. We loved exploring the area - including a highly recommended tree climbing adventure with Andy and trips to Martina's and Carate, Backwash Bay, Playa Dulce, and Sombrero beaches.

Thanks Allison and the boys! I really, really hope you come back next year and we can do even more adventures. Michaels story about the false killer whales is making the rounds on our sundowner/sticks gatherings.
Andrew was fantastic. Very informative about the animals and the area. The location is ideal, right on the Ocean. Beautiful gardens and a great swimming pool.
We enjoyed it a lot with Andy! The location in nature and right by the sea is fantastic. Andy as a host was very friendly, straightforward and helpful.
We had an amazing time at Andrew’s cabin in the jungle. Matapalo is to die for - it’s the perfect “Swiss family Robinson” get away. Andrew was great - always around to guide us in the right direction but never overstayed his welcome. He showed us the monkeys, sloths and wildlife on his property and checked in every day to make sure we were happy. The cabin is not for the faint of heart as it has no windows and is totally open to the elements to help air flow in the hot weather. It was perfect by day, but just a little scary at night as the sounds of the jungle tended to keep us awake in fear that something might get in. On the flip side, if you want a vacation completely in the wilderness, surrounded by amazing scenery, the most beautiful beaches and wildlife you’ve probably never seen before, this is definitely the place for you. We are already making plans to go back next year. We loved Matapalo and Andrew made it perfect!
The Osa Peninsula and this property are not for the feint hearted, it’s remote and in the thick of nature. If that’s what your looking for this place is brilliant and made for a very special holiday. Nestled near a couple of properties, Andy is nearby and so helpful for sharing local knowledge and advice on anything, but still private and peaceful. Right on the beach with lovely hammocks and benches to watch the sunrise and waves from. Swimming pool is a bonus as the ocean is too powerful for swimming. Basic kitchen equipment but enough to get by fine. You should really have a 4x4 to get here. Do a big supermarket shop in Jimenez on the way down as there’s no other shops once you pass there, but a few really lovely restaurants around 20 mins drive away, take cash. This is Costa Rican wilderness living at its best. Would love to come back one day.

Besos amor!
Andrew’s place in Matapalo is exactly as described…beautiful, remote and peaceful. We spent 3 nights there. We enjoyed the location as we were there to hike, chill, enjoy the beach and experience the cool and abundant wildlife. The property is rustic…meaning as described, it is an open kitchen and 2 separate bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you need pots, pans, utensils, and surprisingly good knives. The pool is awesome. Small but deeper than we thought it would be, super clean and totally refreshing. The views from the cabin itself and the property are just beautiful. Andrew was super helpful from start to finish. I asked him for a taxi suggestion, and he hooked us up with a great local named Oscar who was great. I would definitely stay here again.
What a perfect location in one of the most amazing places in Costa. The Osa is such a unique and beautiful place on its own but when you add the perfect place to call home while your there is just icing on the cake. Andy was such a wonderful person to have met and definitely a wealth of information! communication was never an issue and had lots great suggestions for the area since he has been there for a while. Loved making breakfast in the open air kitchen and walking down to the "hammocks" a few steps away to the most amazing beautiful beach view, which always included macaws monkeys and even sited a humpback whale in the distance. Enjoyed walks around the area just waiting to look up in the trees to see what wildlife may be visible. Surf is amazing just right out front or take a walk to backwash or Pan dulce for swimming or surfing. This truly is the perfect place and location for a true Osa experience.

Hey Jennifer. You guys were a delight and I only miss not being there the whole time. Mil gracias for tended to the animals during my absence! I look forward to your return. Todo los días! Andy
Andrew was a lovely, knowledgeable and gracious host, sharing his insights on the many animals and highlights of the area. The location is incredible - steps away from the beach and easy walking distance to other points of interest and beaches. There was a swing, ping pong table and more for fun with the kids. While we were there we saw so many animals and lush varieties of plants. It’s a true slice of paradise.
