Studio in Caye Caulker

Judith

Excellent, 1 month ago

From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. James met us at the airport, Cal at the water taxi, and Flor made check-in seamless. They all went above and beyond. The house is tucked away on the quiet south end, which was exactly what we needed—peaceful, relaxing, and perfect for unwinding. We loved having the dock right there for our snorkeling and fishing trips, and the pool was such a treat in the evenings. One tip that made our stay extra special: follow their suggestion and eat at Chef D’s. It led to an incredible boat day with his family and even a golf cart rental. It made the whole trip feel personal and connected to the local community. All in all, if you’re looking for a calm, authentic slice of island life with genuinely kind hosts, this is it. We’d go back in a heartbeat.

Thank you for choosing our home . We loved having you as our guest & we would welcome you back in a heartbeat!

Can’t say enough about this beautiful home and location! So relaxing and peaceful! The views are more stunning than pictures can portray. James proactively arranged for pick up at the airport and golf cart taxi to the Airbnb. We rented a golf cart for easy access to the village (we are in our 60’s) but you can use the bicycles provided if you like. This is an off grid experience so we were careful not to waste water and electricity. That said we never had any issues with availability. The place has everything you need to cook meals yourself but you will also want to take advantage of the many restaurants and street vendors in the village. The village is a 10 minute golf cart ride or maybe 15 minutes by bicycle on the little jungle road. Evening sunsets on the dock are simply amazing! This is the perfect location. It is tucked away at the end of the island, but easy access to everything you need or want to go do. Loved our time here!

Thank you for all your kind words, we’d love to have you back again anytime!

Lovely home in a quiet location. Owner very responsive to any questions or needs we had. Loved the place and was exactly as described. Very quiet and peaceful location. Town was a bit far, but we loved it for that reason. Not much traffic other than people living in the area. Pool was awesome. Jeffry the grounds/pool keeper was awesome!! Private dock with the water right out front…nothing better. We got married (self uniting) marriage while we were there. It was the perfect spot for rest and relaxation. Plenty to do if you prefer to, we just appreciated the south side of the islands vibe….we enjoyed the island motto GO SLOW. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, location and privacy. Hopefully we will be back soon!!!

We are so happy you picked our place for your Honeymoon & Wedding on our Go Slow Island. We would love to have you back again next year for your Anniversary celebration too. Thank you for your kind words.

Nice quiet location. We were unaware when booking that there is a studio apartment below us; which was not in the listing. Therefore there was a shared pool. The home was spacious and clean. The pool was very inviting and refreshing daily. The dock over the water was great for coffee and evening sunsets but the bottom was like quick sand and you hated to touch the bottom. Water was mirky but there were white caps a few days and rain the others. Kitchen was stocked well and bed was comfortable. The trips into town can be tricky. There was no way we could ride our bikes most days due to the road flooding in the evenings. Upon arrival we immediately rented a golf cart as the road is quite long and the surf would flood the roads most evenings. Communication with James was good. He was very responsive when we messaged him. Also note, the listing indicated there was a phone to use at the house which was also not the case. All in all we loved the seclusion of the location.

Hi Lynn-Brian, Yes, as you may have overlooked in our listing, there is a very private guest suite on the opposite side of the house with a separate entrance & gate. We were happy to hear you enjoyed our home so much that you wanted to return with 2 members of your family and we had our house keeper come give you a tour of the guest suite. The pool may be shared with only 2 others at a time, as this is all the property allows. You happened to be there for 5 days during an unusually wet weather event. We would love to have you and your family return again soon. The Island dries up quickly and the sea is most always blue and calm.

Wow! What a fantastic place! Everything you need to stay on the property and enjoy the sea, the pool, the scenery, in a private setting with a fully stocked kitchen and all appliances to make any meal you choose. With the wraparound deck, rooftop deck, and pool deck you can enjoy all the views. Especially loved the hammocks - on the deck and at the pool! Laying in the hammock in the evening staring up at the stars with the soft outdoor lighting was heaven. It is close enough to town to bike, walk or be picked up to enjoy the beach, shopping, and restaurants. Max picked us up at the ferry, took us to get groceries, and made sure we felt comfortable when we got there. He was always available when we asked or set up a time for ride into or from town. Max was friendly and helpful. We have stayed many places and this place had everything we loved about all of the other places wrapped into one. We were able to truly disconnect and enjoy this beautiful place.Cannot recommend highly enough!

You’re Welcome, Heidi. It was our pleasure! Your favorite hammock will be ready for your return. Looking forward to seeing y’all soon!

James made our 1st trip to Caye Caulker easy by lining up rides from/to airport. Place was terrific with refreshing pool, breezy deck & private dock. Best things: private boat tours (Joe 629 5253) at similar price to tourist groups. Joe picked up from dock & took us snorkeling for 14 hrs over 2 days to his private spots (didn’t see another person), Little Kitchen (don’t let back alley scare u off … family run, best food/prices on CC), circumnavigate island using James 2 person kayak (or goto Chapel Island), bike everywhere. If you are sedentary this might not be the place for you as there will likely be construction nearby for the next 6mo, but it didn’t diminish our 8 days in paradise - thx James & Rainy!

Host Response

Hi Tom, thanks for all your kind words. We are looking forward to booking a private tour with Joe…Sounds Awesome!

Rainy & James place is amazing! It is a bit out of town but kind of nice to be in a quiet area away from everything. It can be a bit tricky at night, there is no light and the sand flies are really bad- so we usually took a golf cart taxi home at night which gets a little pricey- $10 US one way. The place was great and they do provide bikes which was very helpful, we rode them almost every day. The only thing I would say is to be prepared for bugs. We left completely covered in bug bites and I had a bad reaction to them. Bring bug spray and clothing that covers you up if you want to sit on the porch at night. Would highly reccomend Rainy & James place, they even provided a phone so that if you don't have international calling you can easily call a cab or text Ron the property manager with any questions! Thank you for everything, we hope to come back to Caye Caulker in the near future :)

Great place for those who want a secluded, roomy place with a spectacular view. Guests must be willing to walk 20 minutes into town, take a $10USD taxi or ride a bike (which is provided). Bring your headlamps (provided) because it gets pitch black at 6pm. Wifi is strong but guests are encouraged to use as little electricity and water as possible. To stay cool, open the windows and turn on the fans but be sure to shield yourself with bug spray while inside because sandflies can be troublesome. A local cellphone is provided for quick calls to the manager and to taxi drivers. Three hammocks. No facilities to wash clothing.
