Lovely spot. The restaurant was closed for low season so we didn’t get to try that but all the spots in town were great.

Beautiful place to stay. Note you will need a car to get into town or it’ll be a longer walk (we had a rental car). The grounds are gorgeous, with a private hiking trail, the sounds of howler monkeys overhead in the evenings. Everyone that works there is so friendly—from people working on the grounds delighting in explaining the local fauna and flora, to the charming chef couple at the on site restaurant (delicious!), and people working the front desk. Somehow it really feels like home and we wished we could have stayed longer. The room is lovely, with a fully equipped kitchen and lovely lounge area to yourself. Do note: you are very much in the jungle, with all the beauty that comes with it, as well as critters (we encountered some small scorpions in the bathroom!), if that makes you squeamish. It is however very clean and well kept. Would absolutely recommend this place 💙

The place was peaceful and quiet me and my family love it so much one of my friends members is from Zürich Switzerland, and he enjoyed every moment of it. We had a great time. Look forward to coming again. We will visit and I have recommended to a couple friends in Los Angeles thank the staff for all their help and the housekeepers were fabulous.

Enjoyed our stay here. 6 adults and an 18 month old. Only one bathroom though. Herjina was very responsive to our needs and very friendly. She accessed a packnplay and a high chair for the baby We had an excellent breakfast in the cafe on site. Would recommend to anyone. Not high end but affordable. Met our needs. The entire staff went above and beyond to make us feel right at home! They were super responsive and helpful with any questions we had. The property was beautiful. The house was well maintained and very clean. Small flowers were placed carefully around the bathroom to give it an extra personal touch. Housekeeping came daily to tidy up and deliver fresh towels. I had them wash a load of clothes and they came back folded and smelling amazing. They have a chef that will come and cook a fresh meal if requested. They really go the extra mile. The location is great. It’s close to everything we wanted to do. But far enough out that we had privacy and we were able to enjoy the wildlife and scenery. Tour guides were willing to pick us up from the resort since we were within San Ignacio town limits. But I would recommend getting a rental car to get around. Driving distance to the Mayan Ruins are about 10 minutes for Cahal Pech, 40 minutes for Xunantunich, and 2 hours for Caracol.

Thank you again Shana for your wonderful review on your stay at our property. You are welcome to stay with us anytime when you return to Belize. Jina

I can’t say enough good things about Maya Mountain Lodge. It was exactly what I wanted; flowers, jungle, birds and quiet. The staff knew that it was my birthday and I was presented with a Happy Birthday greeting made out of flower petals on my bed! It was so touching and made me feel special. The room was clean, had lots of towels and the shower had excellent pressure and heat which was really appreciated after a long day of adventuring. Everyone was helpful and friendly. They coordinated two tours with a local company (Cayo Inland Adventures - excellent) and gave me a tour of the grounds showing me all the native trees and plants. Levi and I exchanged books about traditional medicinal plants used by Mayans. We both have a love plants so we had a lot to talk about. I can’t wait to come back! Suggestion- if you’re driving, maps from the AirB&B site won’t take you to the right place. Type in Maya Mountain Lodge directly from G oogle maps. That will get you right there.

This is a gem of a place. The rooms are comfortable. the grounds are fantastic and beautifully maintained. There is a great restaurant on site for breakfast and dinner and great restaurants and markets minutes away in the lively town of San Ignacio. staff is wonderful, polite and helpful. Also, the location is ideal. A short drive to fantastic Mayan ruins and the Pine Ridge Mountain Reserve. Very highly recommended

My family had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay at the Maya Mountain Lodge. The location was just right--close enough to town to walk if you wanted, but far enough away to feel private and peaceful. All of the staff at the lodge was very welcoming and friendly, and they were all very nice to our two-year old. Communication was always quick and clear. The hike around the property and the swimming pool were nice touches, and we had a good dinner at the onsite restaurant. A very nice place to stay on the edge of San Ignacio!

Hosts were really cool and helpful, house & surrounding land were very well kept and gorgeous. Made us feel at home and also in the jungle, with access to a garden. Also had trails to hike, which was cool.

We loved it here! Levi was great for check in, he gave a tour and helped me pick limes. The garden is regrowing but I cut lemon grass and made a pitcher of tea, also the garden had mint and chives. The kitchen is fully loaded and its location was close enough to town to get there in a couple of minutes. I loved the chairs out front so I found Comfort Furniture just outside of town and bought 2 and mailed them home. I highly recommend staying here! The Wi-Fi was good in our room for my husband to work.

Lovely jungle house. The house is a little weird as far as layout, but the setting is nice. We didn't need to use the third bedroom which was good bc it smelled like mildew. The staff on the property was amazing! They really enhanced our stay. The one thing the property needs is more furniture around the pool area. Also, there is no river access from the property. Would recommend if you're on a budget.

Maya Mountain Lodge was the perfect place for our visit to San Ignacio. The property is stunning and you could spend endless hours watching the wildlife. The location is convenient for visiting San Ignacio but also out of town just enough to feel very private and secluded. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

What wonderful place to stay! The grounds are beautiful and quiet. It was like staying inside a botanical garden. The home was as described. The air-conditioning worked well. We didn't need it but, we have had our clothes washed, dried, and folded for US$ 8/ load. Very helpful and friendly check-in staff.

We were traveling with 8 month old twins and the hosts were extremely accommodating in making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The only hiccup was our place wasn't ready when we arrived and that was tricky with the kiddos being exhausted, but the rest of our stay was remarkable. The air conditioning made things super comfortable, we loved the pool, the kitchen had everything we needed to make meals and store food. We had to do laundry during our stay and the hosts gave us a great price, fast turn around and clean clean clothes! For being in the middle of the jungle, the wifi was amazing. We'd definitely stay here again!

The Maya Mountain lodge was the perfect place to stay for us. We rented a car, and getting around was super easy. When we weren't out exploring, we still had tons to do at the lodge including hiking around, exploring plants, watching goats, and enjoying a storm on the patio.

We had a great stay, the staff at the lodge were helpful and the apartment was very spacious. The lodge is on the outskirts of saint elena and San Ignacio. It is not advisable to walk the road back at night which means a taxi back or takeout are required for evening meal (the restaurant at the lodge hadn’t reopened when we were there).

This cute palapa cabin is super fun and a great eco lodge experience! The communication is great and they helped us book a few tours. There are a few restaurants around but having a car is best in this area. And there’s free parking which is great!

I cannot write enough great things about this place. It is a little piece of jungle heaven! Gina checked me in and she was absolutely wonderful and helpful. The bungalow itself was so cute. The bed was super comfortable and the linen smelled amazing. The shower was very clean and spacious and the water pressure/temperature worked perfectly. The coffee was delicious! The grounds themselves are beautifully landscaped. I liked how each different tree/plant/ and flower was labeled. I liked this place so much I ended paying for an extra night just so that I could enjoy the grounds and pool a little bit longer. Don’t think twice, book this now!

We had a wonderful stay at the lodge. Gina who helped with check-in was so helpful! And Pablo who works on the property gave us a tour of the gardens and showed us some incredible plants. The room was clean and came with fresh flowers. The wifi was a bit spotty and would disconnect sometimes, but otherwise our stay was great!

The property was spotlessly clean and the host super communicative. The location is a little hard to find so take note of the directions as there is no street address. Overall this was good value.

I stayed 10 days at this wonderful place, which is part of the Maya Mountain Lodge., and would have happily stayed longer. The grounds are a gorgeous and cared for jungle filled with flowers taller than me. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The location is great because unlike many of the lodges in the area, you can walk to town (about 10 minutes to Santa Elena and another 10 into San Ignacio). It’s also a cheap taxi ride. The place is comfortable and I LOVED the fully equipped indoor/outdoor kitchen where I felt I was cooking in the middle of the jungle but protected from the weather and the bugs because it’s all enclosed with screen. I also loved the outdoor sitting area and hammock and spent tons of time just working or reading happily. And the Wi-Fi is pretty good and consistent most of the time- I was able to steam a show and do zoom meetings. I was sad to leave and would happily go back , even for an extended stay. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend staying here. The grounds were stunning, the room was pristine and comfortable (although it is in the jungle and bugs are inevitable, the room had a great screen to keep them out). There is a nice pool to take a dip. The kitchen had everything you could need. Walking to town is totally doable, about a 25 minute walk. There was a binder with resources such as taxi contacts and local bird species. I enjoyed the company of everybody on the grounds. It is a fantastic place to stay to experience Belizean culture, wildlife, and hospitality.

this was an all time favorite stay for me. we arrived to tropical flowers around our bungalow. the grounds are stunning, the staff is super friendly and hospitable, the value is fantastic. the highlight for me was my walk with pablo, who taught me about the plants around the jungle. it’s a lush and magical place! bring bug lotion. i’m a finicky sleeper, so my earplugs were great as there is very active bird life in the early mornings.

We are a mum, dad and 3 daughters from UK. We all really loved the gardens and surroundings - amazing trees, flowers and fruit with great tropical views from the restaurant and the swimming pool. The food was very fresh and staff were very friendly, attentive, informative and happy to cater to different requests. I really liked the complimentary tea, coffee, water & special herbal tea of the day - with all health benefits detailed. It’s easy to get into san Ignacio by foot or a quick taxi ride but you do feel like you are properly in nature when at the accommodation and restaurant. Also really recommend visiting the iguanas.
Host Response
Thank you Sally for the kind words. My wife Suzi and I especially hit it off with you your family because we too are parents of twins. Our 5 kids were raised here at the Maya Mountain Lodge and grew up speaking English Creole and Spanish as well as the "American English" of their parents. I compliment you and your husband for traveling with your kids as it positively affects them in so many great ways and sets a foundation for everything they learn later. So glad you enjoyed our Nature's Kitchen whole foods restaurant. It is what we are all about. We support the food choices our guest have with food that is whole, natural, and pure. Our organic gardens and aquaponics project contribute a lot to those great flavors! No problem getting grass-fed meets here. You learned that we are at the edge of the jungle 3/4 mile from the town of San Ignacio. Glad you were able to enjoy the Iguana Conservation Project. Book a longer trip next time and you can see the Ajaw Chocolate making a demonstration and a great farmers market. Gift shops by local artist are also popular. You have lots more to do on your next trip. We look forward to seeing you soon.

This is one amazing gem right in the middle of all the sites we wanted to visit. Jaguar Paw was 45 minutes away, Mayan Temples less than 30 minutes and waterfalls and Rio on Pools about an hour away. All in different directions making this place a good starting spot for any excursion.

This place in Santa Elena is simply the garden of paradise. The whole compound is beautiful with many varieties of trees and plantations. The swimming pool is a must with the forest all around. This two bedroom is nicely decorated and has lots of amenities. The staff maintains this lodge very well. They are all very gentle and discrete. Finally, Elmer makes you feel very confortable and has a lot of good peeves of advice. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Maya Mountain Lodge is in a beautiful setting and this apartment is a good size -- we were three people and always felt like we had enough space to spread out. The kitchen is stocked well enough, although we would up not really using it for much besides keeping our drinking water cold. We did take full advantage of the services the Lodge offered -- we used the pool, we enjoyed the morning coffee, and we got a lot of help planning outings from the staff. Elmer is super friendly! Thanks guys for a great trip!

The vacation room is not the most beautiful room in the resort but is very convinient for four people. The swimming pool offers a nice view. Mountain river lodge is well located and not far from San Ignacio. I recommend this place :)

We found renting the house at Maya Mountain Lodge gave us the wonderful opportunity to have our own space as a family to work, cook etc but with the added bonus of being in a resort so we could choose not to cook and swim in the pool. The staff team couldn't have been more helpful. A great location!
