Amazing location, beautiful place and Laura was always very responsive and kind, she solved all our questions and brought salt and pepper in a matter of minutes. We really enjoyed our stay. I definitely recommend this place!

Host Response

Thank you so much Patricia for this lovely review 😊 I’m really happy you enjoyed the house and your stay. It was a pleasure hosting you, and thank you as well for your kindness and easy communication during the whole stay. You are welcome back anytime ☀️🌴 Laura

Absolutely amazing place! The views are simply magnificent, with stunning sunsets that you don't get tired of. A big thank you to Laura for her excellent communication: she was attentive, kind, welcoming, and always available to answer our questions and give us advice, especially on restaurants. The place is beautiful, tastefully decorated in a truly gorgeous boho-chic style. Everything is comfortable: the bed is very nice, and the bathroom is convenient and well-designed. Access to the house is via an elevated area, but with a 4x4 it’s very easy. A 100% successful experience! Our only regret: not staying longer ✨🌺🌴

Host Response

Thank you so much, Séverine, for this wonderful message 🥰 I'm delighted you enjoyed the villa, the view, and your stay so much. It was a real pleasure to host you; you were perfect guests. Looking forward to welcoming you back, perhaps for an even longer stay next time ✨🌴 See you soon, Laura

Fiona was amazing! Very responsive and helpful. Unfortunately the place is a bit dated compared to its amazing pictures. Generally I don't leave reviews, but feel compelled to since I feel a bit duped. Pros: Beautiful View Private Spot close to town/beach Nice Pool Comfortable beds Cons: One bedroom A/C significantly worse than the second bedroom Tons of geckos in the evenings Toilets are pretty badly stained No lights near pool for evening swims Faucet water smells, I assume on a well Some towels had stains None of those things was a killer for the trip, we still had an amazing time, but for the price, I feel like there's better options available if you want to be in something cleaner and more comfortable.

Stay was very comfortable yet always worried about the safety of us. I didn’t like the fact that you cannot lock the doors, even though gate was there, you can easily walk in from the side. Also, asked for key to the safe which was never provided. So we had to carry our valuables everywhere. House needs maintenance, our bathroom had leak , which was fixed two days later, air conditioner in the room didn’t work. They fixed it eventually. Staff were polite and helpful. Besides all this, View was very beautiful, best sunset, beds were comfortable. Make sure you rent 4x4 for this location, slippery after u cross the creek numerous times of the day.

The house is amazing. The connection with nature is total. We could see monkeys outside and unique sunsets, with the peace of being far from any neighbors. The house is very nice, it has some details to correct, such as the possibility that the main room is really isolated from insects (it has a window without glass to the bathroom, which is outdoors) Fiona is an excellent co-host, she immediately resolved any questions we had and suggested excellent tours. I would definitely come back

Extremely beautiful property, when I first walked in my breath felt like it was taken away. The views in the photos don’t do it enough justice, because in real life it is absolutely stunning. The home feels very private, and like something out of a story book. We spent our honeymoon there and will forever cherish our memories at Villa Pompadour. The road up is very rugged! An ATV is a must. You could certainly make it up with a 4x4 vehicle, but we found the ATV to be very convenient. The wild life here is definitely something to consider- very cool to be surrounded by monkeys and birds but there are also a lot of bugs, just be mindful of this and don’t leave food out. We kept dry foods in the fridge as well just to keep the space clean. This place truly is a patch of paradise. Fiona is very helpful, and the owner Sebastian was a very kind man who we met briefly outside of the property. This place is 10/10!

Beautiful. Comfortable. Cozy. This is a stay we will never forget!! Aside from the stunning views of the ocean and complete privacy, the villa is charming as can be - a chic bohemian beach paradise. If you’re looking to sip coffee and make breakfast in the morning, while listening to the sounds of nature (a symphony of birds, insects, and the occasional howler monkey roar) from your poolside hammock, this is the place for you!!! It will feel like you’re in a dream! Also, Fiona, our concierge, is a shining gem of a human - so kind and gracious and helpful!!! 11/10 would recommend this place. The only, and I mean ONLY, downside is that the villa is located a ways up the hill and the road is steep and treacherous in some places. We would definitely recommend a mode of transportation to get to the villa. We walked down into town most days and while we had to be careful, it was doable. The walk back up was quite challenging tho - a great workout for those more abled-bodied travelers.

I would not hesitate in the slightest to give this place 5 stars. I booked here with my parents for our family vacation. There were 3 of us and the space was perfect. The rooms were clean and had GREAT a/c and fans. As a new Yorker I was nervous I was going to sweat to death at night seeing as the house was an open concept. Never once got hot at night. I also have never stayed anywhere that had duvets for the comforter. Again 10/10. The host Thomas set us up with ATVs and transportation to and from cobano and to our next air bnb He was very commutative with my million text I sent a day and always had great suggestions for everything The only two things we noticed that we would change would be no ladder or wall steps to get out of the pool If you don’t have upper body strength getting out will be difficult.lastly a few loose deck boards that should be replaced for safety. we couldnt have loved the house more. We already have friends asking where we stayed wanting to book!

We had a great stay at Villa Pompadour in Santa Teresa! The house is beautiful and the views are spectacular, that is definitely the best part with this AirBnB! We watched the most amazing sunsets from our terrace while we made dinner. The road up to the house is however the most difficult road that we had ever encountered as it is in such poor condition. So visitors should be aware that you definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to get up to the house. This was stated by the host in the description and we knew about it in advance so it wasn’t a big issue. Also we really liked that the house is next to the national park area so there is beautiful wilderness surrounding the house, but that also meant that we had lots of big spiders inside every night. This is of course to be expected in Costa Rica in most places, but it’s still good to know for people who might be afraid of them. All in all the experience was really wonderful and the house is beautiful so I would definitely recommend it!

We really enjoyed our 8 night stay at Sebastian's lovely Villa Pompadour! The onsite host, Tomas, was so friendly and always available for questions/problems. Having the cleaning gal, Katie, come each morning was an unexpected bonus...making our bed and doing light general cleaning. The indoor/outdoor living concept was perfect and the gorgeous views were unbeatable! The bed was super comfortable and the air conditioning was stellar in the smaller bedroom we stayed in. As others have mentioned, the road going into town from the villa is crazy rough...but we were prepared for it with our ATV rental! We would've loved to have given a 5 star review, but the house is in need of some overdue wear and tear maintenance: Rotten deck boards, a couple of broken windows, a badly stained toilet, and a major pool leak that dropped the water level several inches each day. And, a pool ladder must be added, it was very difficult getting out of the pool. We were very appreciative of the late check out!

While charming with great views, this place requires maintenance, upgrades and a much more careful eye for detail to justify the rate and to make it more comfortable. The outdoor area is beautiful, but there seem to be some bugs living in the carpet that bite your feet. We could not use the master bedroom because of the musty smell and damp sheets, so we slept in the second bedroom (where we had the mattress changed over, as that mattress was not useable). Some wood around the pool was rotting, there is no pool ladder, the pipe under one of the sinks fell off and flooded the bathroom, a faucet handle came off, the shower head in the second bedroom is clogged and needs to be replaced, the oven smells terrible and the kitchen cooking equipment is not clean. The coffee maker also needs to be replaced. Outside around the laundry area and patio is cluttered and not well maintained. You also can't lock the sliding door in the master bedroom. Overall, we were disappointed.

Hola Karen!

Thomas greeted us at the door and made sure we had everything we needed to have a great time :). He arranged our taxis to and from the airport and had the 4wheeler deliver to the house so we wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Super beautiful and relaxing the pool was very clean and the bedrooms have AC. Would definitely recommend

The view is breathtaking and the house is beautifully designed. However, the oven is just for looks, the washer/dryer shocked one of our companions three times, and the jungle bathroom is cool to look at, but not functionally great. The slats in the bathroom gave us a view of our companions and our companions a view of us, only one side of the shower works(stay to the right), the floor gets so wet that it’s easy to slip and fall, and the bathroom is HOT. It does not matter if you turn the air on in your room because there is an open window that just blasts the heat of the bathroom into the room. Also, we were warned of bugs but nothing prepared us for all the bugs and dead bugs visible on the curtains over the bed. The hill to the house requires life insurance, car insurance, and every prayer that you can muster. The road to the house is extremely DANGEROUS. - you will drive through a river….We slid multiple times and people don’t seem to care if you hit them or not.

Amazing view! breezes! beautiful grounds! Feel like you’re living the Costa Rica lifestyle here! We even saw a monkey right outside the villa! Tomas, our concierge, was responsive to all questions. Especially helpful in arranging domestic travel and rentals in advance. Rent an ATV/UTV, you’ll need it to travel the road to the house. After the first couple of rides, you’ll get the hang of it. But there are no words to prepare you for this road! The pool and deck could use updating, there were a couple of broken boards on the deck and no pool lights, but we still enjoyed having a swim right outside our door. This is an indoor/outdoor home *in the jungle* with some open-air rooms so be prepared to share your space with geckos and moths and spiders and sugar ants. We had an unfortunate (and presumably rare) instance of a huge fire ant colony move through the home while we were there. This was beyond anyone’s control and they sent maintenance out to spray as quickly as they could.

It was our first time in Santa Teresa and we loved it. The view and pool were amazing. We loved the open-air living in the main room/ddeck with the bedrooms a bit more closed off with AC. As others mentioned, the road up definitely requires a 4x4 - especially in the rain. But the view and wildlife were definitely worth the trek– lots of monkeys and some toucans. Only drawbacks was that we didn't have internet the first 3-4 days (and very little cell service) which made researching and planning our next days adventures difficult. We also lost power and water for two of the nights, but I think most of the hillside lost power as well. Just something to consider before staying up in the trees :) Tomas was awesome and super responsive – giving us recommendations and coordinating reservations.

We really enjoyed our stay here. This place is a hidden gem and absolutely gorgeous. The villa looks exactly as advertised and the view was unbelievable! Our concierge host was Tomas. He was absolutely wonderful in guiding us to this location and making sure we were very comfortable. Tomas went above and beyond to make sure we had everything available to us. Without him, we would not be able to enjoy our stay as much as we did. We will definitely be back!

My partner and I absolutely enjoyed the stay, it matched the pictures perfectly. With this being our first time out of the US, the concierge Thomas was wonderful with helping us plan everything as far as flights and excursions. We were greeted by Thomas at the villa upon arrival. The only thing I’d say was an inconvenience was the showers. The shower in the Jungle bathroom was the only shower that would get hot, but very low water pressure. We didn’t use the Tub for the same reason, low water pressure. In the other bathroom, the water pressure was fine, just cold water. Overall, We enjoyed our stay and I would 100% book this stay again.

We loved staying at Villa Pompadour! The views are spectacular! The pool is amazing! The kitchen is super well-equipped! Thank god for the AC in the bedrooms! And the decor is beautiful and comfy! Tomas was our concierge and was so helpful! He set up our our flights from SJ to Coban, arranged our ATV, met us at the place and arranged for us to check in early, made restaurant recommendations, and generally was available for anything we needed throughout our stay. And he responded to every text almost immediately! I would stay here again for sure!

It’s my third year staying in the same place. I love it.

Thanks for coming!

Stunning views and outdoor spaces. The design and decor were so well done. Really comfortable lounge spaces all over the house. The setting is so beautiful and relaxing. Beds were super comfy and good AC and well appointed kitchen. Only feedback is that the water pressure is almost non existent so it was hard to have a shower.

Saludos!

First let me say this was one of the most picturesque villas I’ve ever stayed in with an exceptional view. It was amazing and for the price still a good deal- however we had some issues that for over $500 a night I’d expect to not have had. First, we had no idea that this villa was named pompadour- an important thing to remember when passing through the entrance to this gated community. It took about 10 minutes for the guard to figure out which villa we were staying in as all I had to show was a pin on a map. Second when we arrived we found the pool water to be quite murky. When addressed someone immediately came to treat with chemicals but still something I expected to be taken care of before our arrival. We also were excited to have a tv to watch movies but the tv was broken when we got there and no one gave us a warning- otherwise I would’ve brought my projector. Lastly the WiFi stopped working on our first night- an issue I don’t blame the host for and they gave us a hotspot.

Host Response

We really enjoyed the villa with the stunning views and outdoor seating. The host was also very responsive and helpful. However unfortunately the villa was let down by extremely loud live music into the late evening by a neighbouring event space which was something we didn’t expect given the secluded location.

Host Response

Book this airbnb, NOW! If you are looking for a stay off the beaten path that gives you a feeling of seclusion, but literally in the middle of everything, this is the place. The pictures don’t even do this place justice. The sunsets and sunrises are absolutely breathhtaking and it’s nestled in a small town with plenty of eatery’s and grocery stores. You could totally spend your entire time in the house because it’s that incredible, but if you want some time to explore, we highly recommend renting an ATV (there’s plenty of options in Santa Teresa) and taking a trip along the coast or a day trip to Montezuma to see waterfalls. The roads require a 4x4, but an atv is so much more fun ;)! Eti, our concierge was more than accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was stress free. This was an amazing first trip to Costa Rica! We were sad to leave!

My husband and I spent three nights here and the first 2 were 2 of the best days of my life! The views were unbelievable, and the pool so refreshing (since the AC was only in the bedrooms). You cannot get to the property without a 4x4 and check your route with the host because if we hadn’t, our maps would have tried making us drive through a river. We didn’t want to keep driving up and down the steep hill everyday, but Vicky was able to set us up with an ATV rental that arrived at the property in 20 minutes for $70/day. The ATV was so fun and easy to get around town with and park with so highly recommend! The last night we had there we woke up at 11pm with no AC, electricity, water, or internet because a tree had fallen, blocked our path out, and took a power line down. That power line powered everything in our house including the electronic gate. We missed our flight because we couldn’t get help/contact anyone until 8am. No one to blame but reminder stuff happens in the jungle!

Villa Pompadour is beautiful. Quiet and secluded with the most spectacular view. From the top of the hill, you feel like you’re in a treehouse. From your perch, you can check the waves at Playa Hermosa for surf (i.e Dawn Patrol!). This house is perfect for anyone who wants to surf but stay away from the hustle and bustle of the main road. Can’t wait to come back. Oh and the little kitty who we named “Chi Chi” (she gifted us a cicada one early morning and left it for us at the bedroom door) decided to adopt us during our time. She is the sweetest.

I loved staying here. It's above the town of Santa Teresa with incredible views of the ocean and surrounding jungle. A great place to sit on the hammock and read a book or ponder your life. As other reviews have mentioned, the road up to the house is no joke and you definitely need a 4x4 vehicle, especially if you are staying here in the wet season. The road gets a little scary when there is mud. That said, as long as you are prepared, it's a fun drive and really cool to have the views from up there. The design is super stylish and you get lots of wildlife around the house - like troupes of monkeys. We loved the place.

Stunning location and great value for price. Vicky was very helpful and eager to assist. We had in house massages that were also amazing. The house will sooner or later need some deep maintenance but it’s understandable in this environment. You will indeed need an SUV to get to the house.

We had a wonderful stay in the house in the Sébastien mountain. The accommodation is quite beautiful, decorated with great taste and comfortable. The view is amazing! We could hear the sea as well as the wildlife of the surrounding forest. Magical! The pool was also much appreciated considering the great heat during our stay. In addition, the accommodation is very well located. It looks right at Santa Teresa beach at the bottom of the coast, as well as close to great restaurants. 4x4 to get there.

Pompadour is a gem of a place, the vibe of the place will ease your soul as you first walk in. The open concept, the two separate bedrooms with their own bathrooms was great. Note, in one of the room there is no door to the toilet and the other bathroom is a jungle bathroom (something worth experiencing). The sunsets were out of this world, just from the patio you were given a spectacle of colours. Amazing. Bbq and well appointed kitchen, we loved it so much we wanted to stay extra night but it was unavailable. Not surprising at all. Vicki, the location manager was fantastic to deal with. She always responded quickly and offered so many helpful suggestions. It is to be noted, there is no ladder or steps to get into the pool, so anyone not strong enough to pull themselves out may have an issue. Not walkable to town, it’s a steep busy dirt road, 4x4 is needed. But again so worth it, treat yourself you won’t be disappointed.

Sebastian’s property had the most amazing sunsets!!! Host was very responsive and helpful. Connected us the fishing charters and staff that were out of this world, scheduled massage appointments for us at a local resort, and had someone at the house in no time when we had a small plumbing issue. Please take the recommendation for 4x4 vehicle extremely seriously as the road to the house set on a hill with steep grade. Sebastian and staff, thank you for helping make our return to CR after many years away, welcoming and memorable!

sebastian's house was overall a wonderful place to stay. there was a magical ocean view and the pool was great. the house was decorated well and was unique and generally speaking quite chic and comfortable. the cons are the road up to the house is not really walkable, and requires a quad or 4 wheel drive. both sliding doors did not lock- so it was essentially impossible to lock the house. the area is secluded, but a safe would have been nice. i liked the plunge pool, but my wife was always a bit stressed out because it was not possible to cordone off our 4 year old from the area. my wife appreciated the french linens( she's french) the houskeeper came every other day and did a great job, and vicki who manages the rental was fantastic and really offered a concierge service with great suggestions and local contacts
