Great stay. We didn't realize it was actually at a hotel type resort which turned out to be quite pleasant. The pool was a nice touch along with outdoor showers to rinse off after returning from surfing at a private beach right across the street. The room itself was sparsely decorated with nothing in the kitchen for basics like salt/pepper/paper towels/cooking oil. There are a couple restaurants in the area with one quite good right next door. We really enjoyed our stay but disappointed with the surf rentals. They only had soft top rentals which were in very poor shape and there were no other other options within walking distance despite being told there are two surf shops close. If you do go to surf and need to rent, rent in town at Frijoles or another shop. One shout out, we did leave a valuable ring in the room when we checked out. We called on our way back and one of the managers retrieved it for us which was a huge relief and sign of class. We would return again.

A very unique experience. The place was great. It had a real treehouse feel about it.

We had a lovely stay at Javier's. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, which we especially appreciated after our long trip from California. Best thing for us was how close the beach was. It took us less than five minutes to walk to a stunningly gorgeous beach with the best body surfing waves we've ever caught. There were also some nice places to eat nearby and an easy jaunt to the water taxi's which take you to Tamarindo. Day trips are also very doable, with the Las Leonas waterfalls within a 1.5 hr drive and the Buena Vista adventure tours (zip lining, horseback, water slide) within 2.5 hrs. Would definitely stay here again.

This place was spacious and had everything I needed. It’s almost right on the beach.

Can't say enough good stuff about our stay at Javiers spot. Manglar is most definitely our favorite place to stay in Playa Grande. The rooms are great, by far the most comfortable beds and pillows in all of Playa Grande. We've stayed at a few spots and Javi's place is head and shoulders above the rest in regards to comforts. The staff is connecting and friendly with tons of great recs for places to go, eat and hang in the area. We will most definitely be back.

Good, no frills, place to stay across the street from the beach. The kitchen was well equipped and great to have surf board rentals on-site.

I loved this place. A bit of a surfy, rustic vibe. Two minute walk to the beach with a community pool. Front desk associate was very helpful. Four wheel drive may be necessary as there are some drainage ditches that could bottom out a sedan. Very close to a great restaurant, otherwise it's a bit of a drive to access other options.

Great location! Quiet beach, ideal for starting surfing. The accommodation was very functional, we did not miss anything and excellent AC! We arrived late at night and no worries, everything was well planned for us. A paradise on the waterfront!

Hotel Manglar is the perfect location for couples or small families looking for a relaxed space just off the beach. We were there to surf and surf we did. You can book boards and lessons from the hotel and the beach is walking distance to the perfect break for learning to surf. Amazing restaurants, highly recommend El Huerto, Hotel Cantentera and Café Mar Azul, but honestly everywhere we ate the food was delicious. You can book excursions to nearby beaches, estuary tour or Viejo Rincon or just relax on the beach. We will be back for sure!

What a great place to stay! The staff were very accommodating! Evelyne worked with us when there was a change in plans for our stay there. The vibe is super relaxed and chill. Steps to the beach on playa grande - almost like having a private beach. We will be back again!!! Thank you so much for everything!
