We enjoyed staying in this home! The location was perfect—close enough to walk to town if needed but tucked into the jungle for privacy. With 5 adults, the layout was ideal: big beds, a full bath for each bedroom, and an extra half bath. The pool, porch hammocks, and balcony chairs were perfect for relaxing. We saw howler monkeys from the balcony and had a friendly resident iguana nearby. The AC, showers, and appliances all worked well, and the washer/dryer handled small loads with no issues. There were drywall repairs needed in each room and occasional bugs and lizards but it didn’t affect our stay. Directions were easy to follow on arrival. But a guest info booklet and extra key would have been helpful. Thank you for hosting us—we loved 8 nights of Pura Vida!

Somewhat disappointed with the accommodation. The windows were dirty, the living room sofa too. There are stains on the ceiling and walls. Some bathrooms were not very well maintained. The house lacks general maintenance. The washing machine was not working as expected. It was very difficult to make it work. More than half of the oven rings did not light up. The air conditioning is extremely noisy. Further from the beach than indicated in the listing, especially since you have to walk on a dirt road. It's better to take the car. Positive points: The layout outside is very comfortable, with the swimming pool. But the pool needs to be cleaned twice a day. The house is big. Although the house manager only speaks/writes in Spanish, she was quite responsive and kind. In short, for the price, I would have preferred to have more functional amenities in the house.

Host Response

Hello Daniel, Unfortunately there are some things you list which you seem to have struggled with: - Air conditioner in one of the bedrooms, it works as expected, noise depends on fan speed. - Stove burners not working, this is simply not true, the stove is 2.5 years old and it works fine. The problem you had is that the igniters were wet, probably from an over boiling liquid. As it is with gas stoves they have an electric igniter per burner. - Washing machine not working, this is simply not true, the digital displays are straight forward as the caretaker person showed you. - Stains on the ceiling, there is some sheetrock tape that has become loose in the kitchen, we'll fix it. - Pool being dirty, not true also, we have a pool caretaker that maintains the pool twice a week and a caretaker who cleans it 3 days/week. There are dry leaves that fall from the trees near by that float on top of the water. We leave a leaf net with an adjustable pole so guests can also easily remove the leaves. The main reason we don't cut the trees around it is because a family of howler monkeys goes through our property quite frequently. We hope you enjoyed the wildlife in and around our property.

This home is a spacious home with a great layout! The pool and yard is beautiful! However, it is not quiet. The neighbors dog will bark all night, bring ear plugs! The house was clean, but the linens are rough so bring your own towels and blankets. The kitchen is prone to ants and spiders, so you’ll need to deal with that daily and the lack of decent pots and pans or mixing bowls. We discovered many things we are accustomed to that were not provided or were old and rusty. The washer ran half way then showed an error code. Sandra did come by and try to look at it and we discovered we could wash 1 towel at a time. So we found a nice place in town to do our laundry for an additional fee. Do not leave anything outside after dark, the racoons will destroy it. The most important thing to note is that this is a 48 minute walk to Sámara Beach. You will want a car or motor scooter when you stay here. The town of Sámara is lovely with shops and restaurants, so wonderful! Fun local activities!

Host Response

Hello Sarah, unfortunately the dog's neighbor got excited with wildlife around its home, there is a family of raccoons that are known to roam the neighborhood primarily at night. As the caretaker instructed you not to leave any trash outside the property during the night. Sheets, linens and towels are actually in good condition. As the caretaker instructed not to leave any leftover food on the kitchen counter, something you would do in any place, you left food on the counter and therefore we had some ants and had to spray. Pots and pans are provided enough for a family of 10, they are not rusty at all. The washer is sensitive to water level and the time it takes to fill it therefore I recommended to start with half the water level and go from there, the caretaker also showed you, we are sorry you couldn't get it to work. The caretaker offered you to take your laundry to town but you refused. The walk to the beach is between 15-23 mins depending on your pace.

The place is just beautiful. The hose is equipped with everything you'll need to be comfortable. In addition, it has a number of bathrooms that exceeded our expectations since each room on the second floor had a private bathroom and the room downstairs had a bathroom adjoining it, which makes the stay much easier. Galileo and Sandra's treatment was cordial and friendly. Always attentive to our needs. We loved as a family to have known the place and stayed in such a comfortable place.
