Benicia Damaris

Our check in was a nightmare. We arrived early in Leon so I contacted the host to see if we could have an earlier check in. No response. We cabbed to the location given on AirBNB, wandered around for over an hour, only to find out from a local that the location of the house was almost 4km west from the address that was listed. We tried to call the host from our taxi driver’s phone number, for it to be ‘out of service’. Frustrated, we finally arrived at the correct location. The security guard, who was suppose to assist us in our ‘self check in’, had no idea what was going on, and spoke no English. We waited another half hour so he could get information from the hosts. He got very frustrated with us & became quite short & rude until Belkys came and dealt with the situation. Aside from the rough check in, Belkys was an amazing host & her hospitality was wonderful. Everything we needed she was able to help us & answer any of our questions. All with a big beautiful smile. Communication was difficult as she only spoke Spanish & we were new at the language, so we communicated through google translate and it all worked out. AC was great but only strong enough to cool the bedroom, not the whole house. And every-other night it would become very weak and almost stop cooling completely. Also made very loud noises that actually woke us up multiple times in the night. I had made a mistake on my number of guests so it ended up being a lot more expensive than we planned (a mistake on my part of course) but we found that it was not worth the amount of money we paid and wouldn’t of booked it if we knew the actual cost. We have been traveling many times and what was offered in the property just didn’t stand up to the price.

This little guesthouse outside of Leon is a very nice place to stay. It is a few km outside if the city but the bus service is close, cheap and convenient. Everything in the house was taken care of and relatively new including the kitchen and bathroom areas. It is in a gated neighborhood and felt very safe, other than the distance from the city center, this is a wonderful place to stay in Leon. Benicia's staff was very helpful and I am glad I booked this place for a few nights.

The apartment was very good for us. It was located in a safe area and just outside of both Leon and Las Penitas. We could easily transport to both locations with minimal expense using the bus which is located on the main road only a few steps from the apartment. There are local stores and bars within walking distance. The apartment was clean and of a decent size. We could easily communicate with both Benicia and Belkys using Airbnb messaging or WhatsApp (you can translate messages using these methods) . Both ladies were very accommodating and helpful. The bed mattresses were not the best, but we only stayed a few nights so we were able to deal with it. Great location and value!
