Staying at Expedition Coiba was amazing! We felt right at home since the moment we got there. The personal at Expedition Coiba is extremely nice, super friendly, responsive and always gave us recommendations for things to do. Diving with them was an incredible experience, and the room we stayed at was clean, comfortable and nice. I would recommend 100% to stay at Expedition Coiba in case you visit Santa Catalina. Thank you so much for making our stay so incredible!!!!

Simple and comfortable accommodation with shared kitchen available , right in the center of the village and 2 minutes walk to the beach! Very nice welcome and above all very nice snorkeling trip to Coiba offered by the host! Our guide, Richard , was very knowledgeable, attentive and friendly! We saw many fish, a manta ray, several white point sharks, and turtles. We would highly recommend this property for hosting and visiting Coiba. Thank you!

The room is right on the main road so access to everything is simple. The surf beach is at the other end of “town” about 1.5km. The beach near the accommodation is swimmable, but lots of boat traffic. All around, the hosts were incredibly helpful and accommodating to us and our four young children. Communication was excellent! We went on a snorkel tour with the company to Coiba with our 9 and 6 year old and we all loved it!

We needed an affordable place with air conditioning and kitchen access, and this place fit the bill. I knew that we would be right in town and wouldnt have a beach view or anything but that was OK with us. So, I wouldn’t say it was in a peaceful location but it was definitely convenient and it wasn’t too noisy for sleeping. Everything (beach, stores, restaurants, dive shops) is right there. About 15-20mins walk to surf beaches. Safe parking right out front. Shared kitchen. This place is family-run and the people are friendly and keep it very clean. The A/C worked really well. We did a snorkeling trip to Isla Coiba with them and it was great!

Maria and her family run the dive and snorkel shop. They’re so kind and do whatever they can to make your stay as comfortable as possible. If you’re looking for a basic place at a reasonable price to stay in the heart of Santa Catalina this is it. We stayed in a bedroom with a private bathroom. However, there is no hot water in the shower and the kitchen is a shared family style area. While staying there it was so convenient to enjoy an all day snorkel trip with their Expedition Coiba company. Richard, one of their volunteer guides, was so great to stay with my partner as she struggled to keep up. The trip was definitely a treat.

Host Response

Thank you for your message. I do not forget your recommendation and thank you very much for your comment 💙

Staying in the diving center is like becoming part of a family. I felt very welcome and will come back anytime if I visit Ssnta Catalina again. The diving school is located in the center of Santa Catalina. This has the advantage to be close to everything, ocean, shop, cafes and restaurant - even the bus. Obviously this also means, that this is not a quiet privat location and you might want to follow my advice to always travel with earplugs. On the other hand, you have the chance to experience living with friendly local people, getting to know them, improving your Spanish, sharing, asking for help and tips and thereby adding so much to just a holiday. The room is clean and comfortable and you will have your own private bath. Like nearly everywhere ins Santa Catalina (and Panamá), there is no hot water - but you won't need that anyway as cold water is not what you might know from other places. Everything was great and I had a wonderful stay that I won't forget.

Very nice apartment right in the center. It belongs to the Coiba Expedicion diving school, so don't be confused and just enter. There was a kitchen and a common room as well as outdoor seating. In addition, cats and a dog ;) The room was very clean and tidy. It is best to pack up Oropax, as the central location allows you to participate directly in the action of the village - in the morning the bus comes directly in front of the house or the supermarket is delivered. So for a long sleep I recommend something for the ears ;) Otherwise, a very good accommodation with super nice hosts! I'd love to come back.

What a gem this place is! The location is central to everything in town. Right across from where the bus drops you off, the mini market and the fresh juice stand. Everything else is within walking distance as the town is very small. The room is new and very clean. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is very nice with a large shower. Air conditioning is great and if you need to store food or cook, you can use the main kitchen next door in the house. Maria also booked our snorkel trip while we stayed there as she and Luis runs Exhibition Coiba for divers and snorkeling. The trip was epic! Luis and his crew make sure you are taken care of and have a good time. We highly recommend staying here.

The hosts were amazing. They had a great number of local tips. We took the coiba experience trip organized by Freddy which was great. We got to see turtles, sharks manta rays etc. The appartment is located in centre of village with a store next to it. The appartment is basic but very clean and convienent. Though new on Airbnb, highly recommended
