Paradise found. We loved James’s beautiful house. The view is breathtaking, the house laid out perfectly, and the wildlife!! Stop looking and stay here.

James place is absolutely beautiful, pictures do not do it justice at all. Check in was great with regular communication with Miguel who met us in uvita and we followed him up the hill. You need a 4x4 if you are renting this place. As long as you have that it’s a bumpy but easy drive. The home is stunning, 2 large bedrooms, kitchen with plenty of equipment for cooking and the outside space is amazing. The pool was the perfect size and the views are out of this world. We saw so much wildlife including sloth, pack of monkeys, lots of birds, acotis, lizards and insects. The owner also has a cat who comes to visit and she is friendly. We loved this place and wouldn’t hesitate to boon again, an amazing relaxing weekend.

What an amazing home! This house probably has the best views around. Sunset views were absolutely beautiful! We spent so much time staring out into the surrounding jungle, listening and looking for various animals. We saw several monkeys, toucans, parrots, macaws, hummingbirds, butterflies and so many others birds and insects and heard howlers every day. Kittie visited every day. Such a cute, sweet cat. Some of the photos could stand to be updated. The photos show TV's in both bedrooms but the listing says there are no TV's. We were pleasantly surprised to find there actually was one there. The description doesn't mention security cameras and the photos don't show them. We found 3 and were told the only camera on while guests are present is at the front door pointing toward the driveway. However, the front camera was the only one that didn't have motion detection on. We asked that the camera aimed toward the pool be unplugged but nobody came, so we turned it to face the jungle.

I'll be back for sure!" Feel free to customize it as you'd like!

The house has a privileged view, a quiet, serene and very beautiful atmosphere, with SPECTACULAR views of the whale's tail and the tropical forest. We saw lazy bears, toucans and lots of wild animals, the flora and fauna of the place is very varied and beautiful. The house as such is newly remodeled, very spacious, with nice finishes and super cool, the rooms with very large and comfortable air conditioning Miguel was very responsive and attentive with everything we occupied, as was the hosts. 100% recommended for a quiet and relaxing vacation. We look forward to returning soon.

My family of 6 all enjoyed staying in this house. James was very responsive right from the initial booking and answered any questions along the way. The kitchen was well stocked with any gadgets you might need, there were trays of ice waiting for us in the freezer, and a beautiful basket of fruit to start off our trip. The house itself was great and comfortable but the location really does make it spectacular. The views were simply amazing, and the sounds…. Oh my… I could have made my own relaxation app with the variety of sounds we heard…. From the multitude of birds chirping happily in the morning, the light rain, heavy rain, thunderstorms followed by the dripping water from leaf to leaf to the nighttime crickets and bugs, it was all spellbinding. Throw in the distanced sound of howler monkeys, daytime bird calls of the toucans and parrots and the various hawks and songbirds, and you truly get the full experience without needing to leave the property! Bring your binoculars! We did drive out to nearby waterfalls and beaches, used a local ranch for horseback riding, and ate at some local establishments including the small hotel located half way up the « hill » to the house. All of our dining experiences were fantastic and our encounters with locals in Uvita were also great, everyone was very inviting. I can’t possibly end this review without mentioning the drive up that every other review mentions. It is definitely something else. We thought others might have been exaggerating. My partner is an avid driver who doesn’t intimidate easily and he always drives on our vacations no matter what country we are in. The first drive up to the house was terrifying. You could have heard a pin drop in our SUV… but it did get better with repetition. It is a 1 lane road that is partially paved for the first 1/2, and rugged gravel terrain for the rest. The pitch or angle at some points make it impossible to see if there is a vehicle coming towards you, and some of the curves are also blind. If you do meet another larger vehicle, one of you has to back up to the nearest driveway or curve in the road that is a bit wider to allow the vehicle to pass. This is all quite normal for the locals who zip up and down but a new experience for us. We had to adjust our overall plans because we felt we weren’t willing to do that drive up after dark (6pm), so we ate out late in the afternoons and had an evening snack at the house. We all went to bed so much earlier than at home anyway so it didn’t impact us too much. All 4 kids 10,14/17/18 were in bed so early every night just so they could get up early to watch and hear the rainforest come alive… overall, we would do it again in a heartbeat. An overall amazing and comfortable experience with this rental home and the local area.

Going to keep it simple. This place is very nice with a stunning view. It is a bit of a challenge to make it up to the house as you definitely need a 4 x 4. It’s rough to get up there. But worth the climb!!

The location of the house is breathtaking. The view is a dream and the wildlife right at your doorstep is also fantastic. For our taste, the house lacked some coziness because there is no living room. But since we were almost only inside for sleeping, it didn't bother us. If you keep the screens consistently closed, you have no problems with mosquitoes and bugs in the house. With a large 4x4, the arrival during the dry season was no problem at all. Google maps led us completely wrong at first. A quick guide with a few tips would be helpful. Rolando was very nice. Since we don't speak Spanish, we communicated via WhatsApp or iTranslate, which was great.

Everything was excellent , everything was very impeccable, very good communication with Rolando and regarding the wonderful house, a spectacular view, without words, I really recommend it 💯

Host Response

Muchas gracias por su visita espero volver a resivirte pronto junto a tu familia. Feliz año nuevo. Gracias Rolando Piedra Gm casa flores y ballenas

The setting and view of this house are breathtaking, with 180-degree views of the Pacific and a direct sight line to Whale's Tail beach. You are transported to another world and worries melt away. Word of warning though: the access road to the property is extremely perilous and NOT for novice drivers. A (large) 4X4 is a must, and even with that we had some trouble with the 45-degree winding, muddy slopes. It's very treacherous! (As well, the only directions we were given were a pin drop on a map, and we had trouble finding it the first night.) But, you are rewarded with a stunning setting, complete with gorgeous flowering plants, exotic bird calls all day/night, monkey sightings, an infinity pool and outdoor shower, and comfortable patio furniture. You're a 10-minute drive up from Uvita, which has great spots to eat (many vegan) and two supermarkets, among other small businesses. Several beaches are within 15 minute drive. Rolando the caretaker was responsive and somewhat helpful, but doesn't speak English. The house itself is clean and spacious, but note that there are no cleaning products (or brooms), no laundry or dishwashing detergents. The dish/glass offering is limited to a few old plastic cups and a handful of plates. The blender works (no cover) though, important when making drinks from delicious fresh local fruit!!
