Our family of 4 including 2 kids under 9 stayed at Casa Guinaldo for a month in July. The house itself is stunning and you can tell a lot of love went into building this special place. The beautiful pool was perfect for our family & provided hours of fun. The listing could use a few updated photos to show the surrounding area more accurately and a house guide would be super helpful especially for long term stays as I always felt bad bothering Jennifer with questions. I teleworked & WiFi was inconsistent even after repairs from Copa and it doesn’t reliably reach into the bedrooms where the desks and AC are. Jennifer mentioned switching to Starlink which would be a great upgrade! We loved spending time with Jennifer’s adorable horse Pinta who cozies right up next to the pool so you can feed her bananas. Jennifer was a lovely host who worked hard to resolve a few issues that came up. She was kind and friendly and I am so thankful we had the opportunity to stay at her home! Thank you!! <3

We truly couldn’t have asked for a better stay in Playa Avellanas. From the moment we arrived, it struck the perfect balance—close enough to enjoy everything Avellanas has to offer, yet tucked away enough to feel immersed in an authentic Costa Rican experience. As an adventurous family, we loved using this as our home base while exploring, then returning each day to something that felt peaceful and grounding. The surrounding wildlife, lush greenery, and the sounds of the jungle made it feel incredibly special. We spent so much time enjoying the outdoor living space—from quiet mornings with coffee to evenings winding down after a full day of exploring. It’s rare to find a place that feels both energizing and calming at the same time, but this was exactly that. The home is exactly as pictured, with beautiful, authentic jungle architecture that makes you feel fully connected to the environment. Surfing, a private chef, La Leona, e-bike rentals, and local restaurants were highlights!

Jennifer's home was beautiful! An open air living experience (or closed) to the beautiful outside and pool. They kept a lot of the existing trees for shade and privacy. Exciting to watch Howler monkeys travelling thru the canopies. The pool was amazing with a large mezzanine type area (1 foot deep) that was great for our toddler grandchildren. We stayed for a month and spent part of every day in the pool. Lots of chairs and loungers. Lots of towels. The beach was a 30 minute walk at a casual pace, or a quick drive (if you have a car). Loved the beach with the tide pools (during low tide) and also the waves. We preferred the beach in the early evening to play and to watch the sunset. We bought a suntent and chairs in Liberia but can also rent on beach. Many good restaurants in the area. We also bought groceries (towns are 25ish minute drives) and cooked. Fish truck on Thursdays. Jennifer was amazing and became part of our family. We very much enjoyed our stay at her home.

I can’t recommend casa aguinaldo and Jennifer enough. We stayed for a month with our family of 4, working part of the time. Jennifer and I connected ahead of time to ensure internet would work for our zoom calls (it did!) and helped find a wonderful community member to care for our two sons. The home is perfect for spending time playing in the pool and barbecuing, and with the beach just a short drive away you’re never bored. Thank you Jennifer, we hope to return soon!

Our stay at Jennifer’s home in Costa Rica was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, Jennifer was a wonderful hostess—warm, welcoming, and full of great recommendations that truly enhanced our experience. Her earthy and inviting vibe made us feel right at home. The house itself is beautifully designed, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. With five bedrooms and three bathrooms, it was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, making it the perfect retreat for my whole family. The pool was a lifesaver in the tropical heat and quickly became our favorite hangout spot. One of the most magical aspects of our stay was the way the property was built with respect for nature. What a beautiful place! Jennifer was such a wonderful host so friendly, very attentive filled with lots of ideas of where we could go and things we could see especially locally owned places. Definitely suggest renting a car or renting an ATV if you are staying here to get to the beaches and other things easily .

the house is trully beautiful and located in a nice an quiet corner of playa Avellana. We were a group of 10 people and found the irse to be spacious enough for all of us. Jennifer was very quick to fix an issue we had with the AC, and the cleanliness of the pool... overall we found the place to be fantastic and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone! thanks again Jennifer.

I stayed at Jennifer's place for a month in February and hosted a 7 day yoga retreat for 9 attendees. The home was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities to live comfortably (stocked kitchen, washer drying, ceiling fans, A/C in bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, towels, sheets, comfortable seating and gathering areas. The wild life on the property was also such an incredible gift. Jennifer is an extremely kind and helpful hostess! I hope to be able to stay there again in the near future.

We had an amazing time sharing Jennifer’s home with our friends. We had twelve people in all - 6 adults and 6 kiddos, ages ~2 to 7. We all enjoyed the sounds of howler monkeys, the serenity of the area, meals together in the amazing kitchen, walks around the property and refreshing dips in the pool. Everything was simply wonderful. Just a few heads ups (by no means complaints) - there is no zip line, no TV (but a tv screen with hdmi cable for mirroring your computer screen) and there is only AC in the rooms. The pool was our saving grace when it was super hot around midday. Enjoy your stay and Pura Vida!

Beautiful house, great location, friendly host. We visited during the month of July '23. The house was large enough to comfortably accommodate 2 families. The pool was wonderful and seeing howler monkeys, birds, and iguanas on the property was fun. The Avellana area is growing so there are quite a few restaurants in the nearby area. Playa Avellana is a perfect beach for learning to surf. It's roughly a 30-minute drive to Tamarindo. You don't strictly need a 4x4 to get to Jennifer's place, but you probably will want one for your trip if you're doing much exploring. Jennifer is friendly and lives on the property (you still have privacy at the house) and she is available for any questions or concerns. She has a pool tech & cleaner that come periodically. Jennifer quickly helped resolve an issue with the washing machine and the water pump. House is in the middle of nature! So you should expect bugs & lizards. Not a problem for our family and the kids liked the lizards.

Very nice place, very close to the beach, only 5 minutes by car. Jennifer was always on the lookout for any questions we had, the pool is excellent, several spaces to rest, a quiet place between nature, where you can see monkeys, iguanas and other animals.
