Casa Marlin was absolutely wonderful! The location couldn't have been better, right on the beach and close to many great restaurants, making it easy to explore Playa Potrero. The home was comfortable, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Casa Marlin and would happily stay here again. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, convenient place to stay in Playa Potrero.

Casa Marlin is a gem in Playa Potrero. With the beach just steps away, a very large pool and plenty of beds and rooms, this place checked off every box. On top of this, Beverly had great recommendations for a chef (Estefania, who made amazing fresh, local meals), which was extremely helpful so that we did not have to find a place to dine with 5 kids. Elvin (groundskeeper and on-site manager) had recommendations for activities on and off the property. We had a bonfire one night, the ladies got massages one afternoon, and we were able to enjoy the local jungle on ATV's and ziplining at a much better place than the "mega adventure park". All in all, an amazing time in a great property!

This is a fabulous home to host a large group of 12 or a family reunion. Elvin, the caretaker of the property, is one of the home's most valuable assets. He assists with restaurant recommendations and provides excellent advice on where to shop. He reserved massages for our family as well as a fishing expedition recommendation. The property is walking distance to a supermarket, pharmacy, vet, Starbucks-like coffee shop/bakery and Chipolte. It's a 90 minute drive to and from the airport along paved roads. TV's are provided throughout the home, but only for streaming. So bring your passwords. Our firestick worked on the huge TV located in the amazing outdoor lounge area so we watched most of the college playoffs! Consider brining beach umbrellas because no shade equipment is provided by the owner. The home is beautifully appointed with everything imaginable and the master bathroom makes even the most sophisticated designer drool!

A Perfect Christmas Getaway for Family. Our family of 12, spanning 3- generations, shared 6 bedrooms and had a wonderful Christmas stay at this beach property. There was something for everybody, from sport fishing to river rafting to sunsets. Elvin, the caretaker, was exceptional - attentive yet unobtrusive, always available when needed. His professionalism reminded us of a five-star server, anticipating needs before we realized them. The indoor living and kitchen spaces are spacious and nice but the outdoor cabana area truly stole the show and became our family gathering spot. The pool delighted every age group and the black sand beach became our daily ritual. The location is ideal - close enough to restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores for convenience, yet secluded enough to feel like a true getaway. This property provided the perfect setting for our family to create lasting memories. The whole house is ideal for larger groups or multi-generational families!

Had a wonderful time at Casa Marlin! Charlie was very quick to respond to any questions we had. Elvin was a gem. We arrived after dark. He met us at check-in, helped unload our luggage & then rode with us to show us where the grocery store was. He was very thoughtful and helpful with questions & recommendations. The house was well stocked with dishes, silverware & many cooking items, spices etc. We used the grill & Elvin made sure it was clean & that there was enough gas etc. He also scheduled massages for us at the house. We wish we could have stayed an extra day to enjoy the pool & outdoor entertainment set-up a little longer.

We spent a week at Charlie’s with 11 adults and had an incredible time. The house is in great shape and had all of the comforts of home. Plenty of ice, coffeemakers, speaker by the pool, rafts in the pool and fridges everywhere. Elvin helped us with everything that we needed and made great recommendations. He is truly a gem. The house is walking distance from restaurants/bars, grocery store, brewery, coffee shops, and nearby morning yoga. The pool area is fantastic and we were able to watch march madness on the large tv next to the pool. There are plenty of spaces for folks to hang out together but to also find some quiet space to read and relax. Elvin helped us to arrange a chef for the group one night and also scheduled incredible massages at the house for us by the beach. The sunsets from the house and beach are gorgeous. We will absolutely be back.

It’s a struggle to find the right words for how perfect this place is. The energy was so positive, the pictures on Airbnb do not do justice to what you will actually experience while you are here. Everything, I mean, absolutely everything is at your fingertips in this house. The amenities are remarkable. Anything we couldn’t find or needed, Elvin was right there to help. He helped us set up massages in the back yard, overlooking the ocean, hearing the waves. He even assisted us in finding someone to cook for us one evening. There are bars and restaurants in walkable distance on the beach. You wake up to crashing waves and birds, and you go to sleep with that same sound. Just sitting on the upper balcony with coffee, while laying in the hammock was magical! There’s nothing better than staying at this house. Recommendations. Walk to the beach bar. It’s so good. Drive to the parking lot by Playa Conchal, and walk to playa Conchal! About .5 miles. You will not regret it!

This was the most incredible place to stay! The home was absolutely gorgeous, and we all had so much space. We had a group of 9 and it couldn’t have been better. The location was incredible, the beach was private and picturesque, and restaurants, grocery, and coffee were walking distance. Elvin was there to greet us when we checked in and was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. I felt so safe and well take care of. I would 100% recommend Charlie’s place to anyone!

Highly recommend

My family of 10 stayed at Charlie's place for a week. It was perfectly set up for us. Enough room for everyone to have their own space, and still have common areas where we all got together. The property is within easy walking distance to a number of great eateries and bodegas. I was surprised when I got there, that the property didn't have a dishwasher. I am sure I missed that in the description. Although, Charlie's place is one of the few, if not only, place with a private pool. I thought if I have to choose between a private pool or dishwasher, I will definitely take the private pool. Elvin, manages the property and he was so helpful to our group. He arranged to have someone come in and cook us a traditional Costa Rican breakfast. The breakfast was wonderful and so welcome. Get up and have someone serve you breakfast with fresh fruits and Gallo Pinto. All in all I would definitely recommend Charlie's Place if you are visiting Costa Rica with a large group.

Casa Marlin was Paradise for a sibling and spouse get together. We were 6 couples and the rooms with en-suite bathrooms were perfect for a “ mature group”. From the moment we stepped through the door we were at home ! Elvin the Caretaker made everything a breeze . From directions ,recommendations and making us feel welcomed and pampered. The home was spotless and beautifully maintained as well as the grounds. You couldn’t beat the view from the upstairs veranda looking over the pool and onto the beach. We spent so much time relaxing ,swimming and enjoy the sun and importantly the shade provided by the Cabana which has everything you need. Refrigerator dishes utensils cups. Sink grill And toilet. We spent 11 days and enjoyed Every minute. We highly recommend for your vacation Charlie and Beverly have decorated their home beautifully and every convenience was thought of.

Charlie‘s place was cozy, comfortable, and oh-so-charming! We had a group of 12, and there was always plenty of comfortable seating in both indoor and outdoor spaces. We enjoyed the rocking chairs, and the swimming pool was large enough to swim laps. Plenty of pots and pans and good knives for all the cooking that we did. Nice hot showers, super comfortable beds and the house was spotless. The fruit market and new bakery were a three minute walk away. The beach is right outside the back door, and the view is gorgeous from all of the outdoor and indoor spaces! Beautiful landscaping, full of nature, surrounds this place. Every day we watched iguanas climb out of the bushes and onto the Plumaria tree, where they basked in the sun, and Baltimore Orioles ate at fruit trees beside the house! The caretaker, Elvin, was an amazing resource and helper. Our group couldn’t have been more comfortable or happy with our stay at Charlie‘s place! We can’t wait to return.

The house and location exceeded our expectations. The interior of the house was very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked. The exterior seating areas were fantastic for relaxing. We spent lots of our time on the upper deck, by the pool, enjoying the covered outdoor area with the tv or laying under the trees in the hammocks. In addition, the sandy beach is right there and is perfect for walking and swimming. Elvin, the caretaker, was extremely helpful to our group - we can’t say enough about his great attitude! We would return to this house in a heartbeat the next time we plan a trip to Costa Rica.
