My husband and I love Redonda Bay. It’s beautiful. However, this particular Villa needs urgent maintenance and care. Bedsheets and towels were dirty (they were changed upon our request), clogged shower, spiderwebs, issues with the fans, no Internet, very uncomfortable bed. 😔We tried to make the best out of it spending time outside, relaxing at the beach, walking/exercising, etc. The highlight of our stay was the spa — Fatima is the best masseuse! Douglas, the landlord was very responsive to our questions; unfortunately, he was not able to fix most of the issues we encountered.

Beautiful location overlooking the ocean and beach. Loved the space for our family with the main bedroom upstairs and the second room detached across deck (this was great for us with older kids to have their own space). Lawrence was helpful when booking and even called me to explain the space and how to get there at night. It would have been nice if the pool was ready our first day and we had drinking water available right away, but the caretaker tried to come as quickly as he could and was responsive. I think the most helpful thing would be to add a house instruction booklet to the space or have more instructions on the AirBNB listing so we did not have to send messages so often. But overall we loved our stay here!

The stay was excellent. Problems on arrival were remedied and it made for a wonderful stay. The location is absolutely stunning….almost unbelievable. Well worth staying. Notably Lawrence was of the highest integrity and Douglas was a truly outstanding ambassador.

Excellent beach stay with warm water, hope to stay here again. Lawrence was a great host- gave contacts for wonderful, trustworthy property manager and driver so it was easy for us to get there, and we felt very safe. Everyone attentive and kind. Beautiful canopy- saw and heard howler monkeys very close by. Porch needs some safety maintenance (screws sticking up, rotting boards) and interior walls could use paint job or cleaning inside bathrooms in particular. Other than construction noise in nearby cabins when we were there, it was very peaceful and quiet on the lovely beach. Beach bar restaurant with basic menu. Playa Gigante is a 20ish minute walk. We hope this place stays small, quiet... some nearby development. Lots of wildlife, maybe rustic for some travelers- we like that. Saw some people visit the restaurant who were scared of normal harmless tropical insects. Amazing tropical ecology here. Several flights worth of somewhat steep rise stairs from beach.

We initially chose this Airbnb specifically due to its flexible booking policy, which allowed shortening our stay as long as the request was made within the specified timeframe. We submitted our request on time via Airbnb, and Lawrence explicitly agreed to our request through Airbnb messaging, as did Douglas, the local contact person in Nicaragua. However, despite their clear confirmation, Lawrence refused to officially accept our request on Airbnb, resulting in us not receiving a refund for the shortened stay. This lack of transparency and deceptive communication was extremely disappointing and frustrating for us. Furthermore, Lawrence has consistently ignored our messages and has provided no response or explanation regarding this issue. We strongly advise potential guests to be cautious and to ensure that all changes and agreements are clearly confirmed through the Airbnb platform to avoid similar experiences.

This is not accurate. I wish I could post a screen shot of our message thread. After staying at my villa for a few days, you suddenly asked if you could leave early. You mentioned being happy and enjoying our place, with vague reasoning for why you wanted to leave early, but of course I am not going to say you must stay if you want to leave. However I was not going to refund your money with zero days notice, since I had turned away other guests because you were occupying the villa and had been on the calendar for months. You don’t get to book a place months in advance, and then decide you want to leave a few days early and want your money back. If my place was in bad shape and that was why you left then I would refund your money, but not just because you randomly decided to leave early at the last minute. I will add that I don’t appreciate your attempt at threatening me with a bad review if I didn’t refund your money. Sellers beware, Silke may attempt to coerce you. Our place is beautiful, and our communication is excellent. That will always be the case.
